no reason to worry...

i didn't run away, i promise. i am absent from the blogging world to spend some time with the kiddos and relax a bit. the camera is still taking shots, they just aren't making their way to the computer. i will be back.

day 135

soccer season has begun. riley had his seeding tournament today to kick off the 2009 season. it should be exciting. he scored the only goal of the day and had several shots that were very close.

day 134

we spent a relaxing afternoon at Folsom Lake. The weather was perfect, the water was warm, and the company was excellent.

day 133

tanner and taylor left for trek early this morning. it always makes me smile to see them together. if you look back through the years, most pictures look just like this, arm around each other.

day 132

tanner and taylor are leaving for trek tommorrow. all of their belongings and supplies had to fit into these buckets. it should be a neat experience for them. (trek is a re-creation of the journey the mormon pioneers took across the plains. the youth will be dressed in that era and pull handcarts and walk during their journey, which is about 16 miles over 3 days.)

day 131

cub scout pack meeting. zach received awards from twilight camp.

day 130

we do not get along with cell phones around here! this is the latest casualty. it was hot yesterday, it would make sense that you would want to get in the pool. just remember to take your phone out of your pocket before you jump in. *in my finest mother's voice* "how about not putting it in the pocket of your SWIMSUIT!" this is the second one in just the last few weeks. in fact, tanners replacement just came in the mail last week. it's a good thing i opted for the insurance this time around.

(why the rice? if a phone gets wet, do not try to turn it back on. put it in a bag of rice for a few days. the rice will help it dry out and it just MIGHT work again)

day 126

dinner during the summertime! our favorite pizza place.

day 125

we came home from vacation and found this all over the bathroom floor in the master bedroom. i hope that it doesn't really mean 7 years of bad luck. we don't need any help in that department. if so, can we count the last 2 years towards our seven as time already served :)!

day 124

a brand new air conditioner! we have never been so excited to have this working! It has been at least 103 degrees over the last 5 days.

YEAH!

It is fixed! We finally have air conditioning!

hot and grouchy!

*sigh* it's still hot here! over 90 degrees upstairs already. the good news is they are outside fixing/replacing as we speak. should only be a couple more hours (which is why we can't escape and head somewhere cooler). we might actually get some sleep tonight.

day 123

An air-conditioner is a great thing, except when it is broken. We are hoping that it is fixed by tommorrow. It has been out since last Thursday and the repair was pushed back again today. It's supposed to be 105 degrees tomorrow. Can we spend the night at your house?

not me! monday

I stole this idea from another blog (www.mycharmingkids.net) and I love that she does it every week. Join in on the fun...

Here is her intro:

Are you feeling guilty for not changing your children's bedsheets for weeks on end? Feel trashy taking your trash to the curb with no bra on? Overcome with embarrassment after your child wets his pants in public? We'll don't be! Not Me! Monday was born out of my desire to admit some of my imperfections and reveal a few moments I'd rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing!

Here are mine this week:

I did not let the laundry pile up for over a week and then have to do 14 loads yesterday and still not be caught up, no NOT ME!

I did not make my youngest child sit at the dinner table until he ate 4 pieces of pasta salad and it took him over an hour, no NOT ME!

I did not let my 9 year light firecrackers by himself for hours on the 4th of July because it kept him entertained and not whining, no NOT ME! (I did sit back and supervise the lighting of said firecrackers).

Join in, leave your Not me! post in the comments.

day 122

The tickets to the midnight showing of the 6th Harry Potter movie on Tuesday have been secured. The boys are now having a Harry Potter Movie Marathon.

day 121

Tanner competed in his 2nd Triathalon today. He finished in 1:38:50 which is 17 minutes better than last time. He had a great swim, a good bike and finished strong on the run. He focused his training on the swim and it really paid off. Way to Go Tanner!

day 120

Youth Rafting Trip. Chris was the captain for our annual rafting trip with the youth from church. We had 60 leaders and youth with us this year. It was a successful trip, with no injuries (at least none that really counted), only a few out of the boats in the rapids (one of which was ours), and everyone had a GREAT time!

"Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome. That's what momma always says. She says that beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will... "
"Hope Floats"

day 119

my annual "skin check" at the dermatologist today left me with 3 biopsies, one near my eye, one on my chest, and another on my shoulder. Remember your Sunscreen!

day 118

Refueling

day 117, the story of Charmaine

There are treasures to be found in Grandmas basement. Charmaine was one of them. Tanner thought she was the greatest. Oh what fun could be had with her. And so the story begins.....Riley was using the bathroom in the basement. Tanner turned out all of the lights and placed Charmaine in the doorway to the bathroom. Time passes. More time passes. Riley would not come out of the bathroom and had to be rescued. The boys would love to have Charmaine come for a visit at our house.

day 116

We had an early flight back to california. The alarm clock is evidence of the time we left the hotel (it is AM) and the photo is evidence of how tired the kids were.

day 115

The Hughes Family

The Hughes Twins, Taylor, Margaret, Tanner, Mary

Grandpa Shirley & Grandma Jeanette

We celebrated the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Shirley and Jeanette Hughes (Chris' Grandparents).

day 114

Happy Independence Day! We celebrated with family in Dakota City, Nebraska. The boys had a great time lighting off fireworks (the kind you cannot set off in California).
