Day 19

Zach is ready to head off on a field trip to the Living History Museum. They have to dress the part and will spend the day doing things the way they were done back in the 1800's. His lunch is packed in a tin pail and he is ready to go! You have to love those freckles!

Day 17

Tired and worn out, these shoes are Tanner's favorite! I hide them in the closet and he always seems to find them. I don't dare throw them away for fear of the backlash.

Day 15

I am biased, but these are two good looking guys! (and you can't tell that they are related can you?) This is the winning coach from the baseball game last night!

Zach's Pitching Debut

Zach pitched the first inning of his game and did a great job. He had one strike out and the coach didn't have to come out for "coach pitch" (this happens after 4 balls are thrown to the batter, in the Minor division there are no "walks") He might just be our first lefty pitcher! Great Job Z Man!

Day 14

The Giants pulled out their first win of the season last night 14-6 against the Padres. Riley played a great game including a triple with 2 RBI's and a diving block at short stop. He was the game MVP and received the game ball.

Day 13

Just because he is so cute and always makes us laugh!

Day 12

Report cards arrived! T&T both have a challenging line-up of classes this year and are doing very well. Whitney is a tough High School, they really push these kids to reach their potential. We are proud!

Day 11

This pretty much sums it up! This is the wall in our laundry room. A gentle reminder that even the mundane and never ending tasks are important, right?

Hughes-Morrell Family Reunion

Day 10

Mixed emotions! The first is a photo taken from a window in the front of the house and the second is a photo taken from a window in the back of the house only seconds apart. The weather can't decide what it wants to do.

Day 9

This is a common scene in our house. There always seems to be some kind of wrestling match going on.

Day 8

.......and I wonder why I have to buy so many groceries. Tanner getting ready to head off to a double-header baseball game.

Rocklin High School plays for California State Championship

Rocklin High School is playing tonight for the California State Basketball Championship. Although the boys don't attend this High School, we have many friends that do and know many of the players on the team. As the boys grew up, Rocklin was the High School they would have attended but with the growth of Rocklin and our move a couple of years ago, they now attend Whitney High School, which we LOVE! The streets of Rocklin will be empty tonight. We will all be at ARCO arena to cheer them on. It's great to see a community come together like this. Although you won't catch Tanner wearing blue, he said that he will sport the color white, and leave his Whitney gear at home :)! Here is a clip from the news yesterday!

Tonight is a night you will hear us all chant "GO THUNDER!"

Day 7

This chair is the favorite place to be in the family room. It is so cozy and comfortable and easy to fall asleep in. Zach seems to make his way there every night and I would say falls asleep about 90% of the time. We take him upstairs to bed every night and each morning he asks "Did I fall asleep downstairs last night?" Ya buddy, like you do every night. I am not sure why it surprises him every morning!

Day 6

After a heart-breaking loss to the Red Sox in tonights baseball game, Riley is trying to finish up homework and get to bed. They played great baseball tonight!

Day 5

"What do you want to be when you grow up" was the theme for Pack Meeting last night. Every station was Zach's favorite. He especially enjoyed the Chiropractic demo mostly because he enjoyed having his back massaged.
3-17-09

Day 4

I LOVE my iphone! It keeps track of me! I love that I can answer email, check Facebook or read the news while out and running around/waiting for the kids. Although I sometimes wonder, has technology really made life easier or has it just allowed us to fill our days with more events? And does this really make things better or have we lost the "down" time that we used to enjoy?
3-16-09

Congratulations to Riley! He was chosen to play on the Rocklin U13 boys Select Soccer team again this year. Way to go Riley!

Day 3

Zach's raffle ticket was drawn during the Baseball raffle on opening day. He won a $500.00 Visa gift card. He was so excited and in his words "This is the best day of my life". Way to go Zach!

Day 2

Rocklin Little League Opening Day 2009.

A look at the Major Field in the cool morning hours before the first pitch of the season was thrown. We spend a lot of time at this field and have many great memories.

Day 1

The spirit wear for Rocklin Little League 2009 season arrived and needs to be sorted and distributed for tommorrows opening day.

Project 365

I am jumping into a HUGE project and I am very excited about it. Project 365 will document our life over the next year. A photo a day, it can't be that difficult right? My hope is that this will give us a glimpse into our daily life, that we will find more gratitude in the things that we have and see how truly blessed we are. I hope this will make us slow down and find the little things in life that make us happy and content. Finding the Joy in our Journey..........the sun shining after days of rain, a great report card, the diet coke that tasted just right, or getting to sleep in on a Saturday morning. I am sure we will have many big milestones along the way but each day I want to capture the small things, the important stuff!

Enjoy each day with us on our journey through 2009..........

Lumiere and Cogsworth!

Catching photos of Taylor during the show was difficult. I snuck backstage during intermission and snapped a few photos of Lumiere and Cogsworth! This pair was awesome! They couldn't have cast it any better.

Holy Text!

We have never had one of those phone bills that made you go "WHAT?" As I looked over the Verizon bill yesterday I was baffled as to why it was so much! An extra $55.00 or so. After scouring it I found that Riley had sent/received 761 text messages in February. That is 511 more than allowed and at $.10 each it adds up. Who could he be possibly be texting that much. We looked into it. I guess when you are 12 there is not a whole lot to say to friends except "Hi!" "What's Up?" "Whatcha doin?" "I'm Bored!". You get the picture. Apparently this is the way he is communicating. So we have changed the plan to feature unlimited texting. It's a good thing we love him so much! :)

Behind the Wheel

I am not quite sure how I feel about this milestone in our life. I just scheduled Tanner & Taylor an appointment with the DMV to get their drivers permit. In one month they will be behind the wheel. Legally. It makes me sad that they are growing up so fast. It makes me feel old. Certainly I can't have children old enough to drive. It makes me smile to know that they will have a new independence. It's an exciting time for them. It's a scary time for us!

Beauty and the Beast

Taylor's performance in Beauty and the Beast is absolutely amazing. The whole show is wonderful. We saw it 3 times this past week and will be back for 2 more this weekend. For those unable to join us, we will put up a clip as soon as possible. For those joining us this weekend, you will not be disappointed. He is SPECTACULAR!

It's Baseball time again!

It's hard to believe that it's time to play baseball again. It seems that we just finished (wait.......I think we just did). Riley is playing on the Major Giants for his last year, Zach is playing on the Minor Mets and Tanner is playing on the Whitney High Freshman team. We are looking forward to many nights at the ballpark. These photos of Riley are from last summer while he was playing for the Rocklin Little League 11 Year old All-Stars.
